Children's Museum of Fond du Lac continues to bring families together, no matter what the age. Three generations join together to create the KidzArt Exhibit.
When our local Children's Museum decided to move to a larger facility, we were asked if we would like to help create their new KidzArt Exhibit. Of course we gladly said YES!
What a great opportunity to support and inspire the creativity activities of the Children's Museum as it provides an opportunity for children to be introduced to the world of arts and culture while they play and have fun. Who knows, a mom or dad seeing their child's art proudly displayed with a frame around it, may have that aha moment and be inspire to create their own "kidz art exhibit" inside their home.
The exhibit is divided into three areas to include: children's artwork from local schools, CMFDL organized art projects and to showcase guests expressions of creativity using the art supplies from the museum's Inspiration Island activity area and re-purposing colorful magnetic frames .
One of the challenges was to create the multiple opening frame work that would house the three 6' x 4 ' magnetic white boards. This is where we brought in my father and founder of the Gallery & Frame Shop, Dick Lewis, CPF. (generation one) His carpentry skills are amazing and with the help of the folks at Drexel Building Supply in Campbellsport we had our know how and supplies to begin the frame work construction.
Keep in mind this is no small frame. Over all it measures almost 6 1/2 ft tall x 20 ft long, taking up all the space in my father's workshop.
Also keep in mind my father's workshop is in Campbellsport and once assembled this frame had to be transported to the Children's Museum of Fond du Lac, where it was painted and installed.
The installation team included my husband Brian, daughter Katlynn and son Tyler along with three others. (generations two and three)
All installed just in time for the museum's grand re-opening, which was held two days after the exhibit installation was completed. If you have not visited the Children's Museum of Fond du Lac, what are you waiting for? I promise you will not be disappointed.
