Our Story
It all started in 1975
It all started in 1975, in the early days as “The Woodshop,” a humble woodworking business. By 1977 we were crafting our own barn-board frames, and in 1980 we expanded into showing art. By 1981, we became Gallery Frame Shop — dropping “The Woodshop” from our name to fully embrace our role as a gallery and framing destination.
In 2002, Julie Balson took the reins from my parents, Dick and Dolly Lewis. Since then we’ve leaned into showcasing more local original art, embracing fair trade artisan pieces, and continuing to grow and renew our space — updating the exterior, expanding offerings, and becoming a gathering place for both artists and art lovers.

Artist in Residence
Local Fond du Lac savant artist Malachi Schmidt is the Artist in Residence at the Gallery & Frame Shop. Through his residency, Malachi assists with a variety of projects around the shop, gaining valuable hands-on experience while continuing to grow as an artist. We're proud to support his creative journey and provide opportunities that will help shape his future in the arts.
